Is the Smoke Bothering You?

The fires in my area are burning hot! I live in Northern California and people have been getting evacuated over the last couple of weeks. The Dixie fire is causing smoke in our area to come and go depending on the wind and the Caldor fire is getting closer and closer to beautiful Tahoe. There are multiple fires right now and with the fire comes the smoke.

The smoke for the last couple of weeks has been thick and has not made me feel good. I have noticed my throat and lungs are irritated from the smoke. Unfortunately, I have had to stop paddle boarding and stay inside. I always have air filters running in my house because I have allergies so my air is filtered, but I still have a tickle in my throat.

Here are 3 things I have been doing to combat the toxic smoke:

#1 Throat Coat Slippery Elm Tea:

This contains slippery elm and marshmallow root, which coats and soothes your throat

#2 Spring Dragon Tea:

This contains astragalus, which nourishes and soothes your lungs. You can get this at Elliott’s or Dragon Rising Acupuncture Clinic in Fair Oaks

#3 Eating Green Herbs:

Eating lots of parsley and cilantro will help your body get rid of toxins you are inhaling from the smoke. Check out my pesto recipe from last week.

Try one of these tips and let me know if it helps you with the smoke.
