Back to School Means Back to Meal Planning
I don’t have any kids, but I was in school until I was 29 just figuring out what I wanted to do so I am programmed to be more disciplined at the end of summer. I needed some new recipe ideas so when I saw that Practical Paleo by Diane Sanfilippo was on sale at Sprouts I snatched myself a copy. I don’t necessarily eat Paleo all the time, but I do like Diane Sanfilippo’s approach to Paleo. “While the term Paleo has gained traction in the main stream media and on bookstore shelves everywhere due to the improved health of those who follow the lifestyle, you could also call this way of eating “primal,” “grain free,” “real food,” “whole food,” “nutrient dense,” or “ancestral.” Whatever name you choose, the Paleo way of eating is simple: mimic our ancestors, who suffered from fewer chronic diseases than we do today.” (Sanfilippo, 21)
This cookbook not only has amazing recipes in it, but it has diet information in it too! Let’s say you have an autoimmune condition or IBS; this cookbook has recipes for you. It also has a description of the condition, as well as foods to help you with your condition. I absolutely love this cookbook!
The main reason is because I can’t have dairy, it gives me acne, and a lot of the recipes are dairy free. I also love this book because the recipes are healthy AND full of flavor! This weekend I made Charlie’s Big Fat Italian Frittata and it tastes like a pizza flavored frittata. It has peperoni, spinach and artichoke heart inside and the crust is made out of potatoes. It is so tasty!
Try this dish tonight and let me know how it goes!
